Buddhist Trail to catch int’l tourists to Pakistan: Zulfi
ISLAMABAD, May 20 (WNP): Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation (PTDC) Chairman Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari Monday said the plan to develop a Buddhist Trail in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is underway.
He said this initiative would catch international tourists attention particularly historians towards Pakistan. It would also target market religious tourism as per vision of Prime Minsiter Imran Khan.
According to the plan, the trail would kick start from Swabi, Swat and culminate at Taxila, which is the center of numerous Buddhist sites.
Pakistan has been the cradle of Buddhist art and culture since time immemorial. The Gandhara civilization flourished in the North Western region of the country from the 6th century BC to the 5th century AD.
