ISLAMABAD, May 26 (WNP): Senator Lieutenant General Abdul Qayyum Sunday said the issue of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) should be tackled through political means instead of force.
Talking to media persons here, he dismayed over the recent clash in North Waziristan and termed it as an unfortunate incident because it has costed some lives.
“I however strongly feel that our real success would be to tackle it politically with minimum use of force,” he said.
General Qayyum was of the view that these are the traps laid by our adversaries to malign our valiant forces who have successfully won the war on terror and got vacated this area from the clutches of ruthless beasts at the peril of thousands of valuable lives of our innocent tribesmen and brave sons of the land. At that crucial juncture, the PTM was nowhere, he added.
He said the nation is shocked to know about the sinister designs and the forces behind this anti state movement as explained by the Inter Services Public Relations Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor in clear-cut words while addressing a press conference here at garrison city a couple weeks ago.
He proposed that politicians should come forward and play their constructive role in the resolution of this critical issue as “doing politics on such explosive national security issues will tantamount to stabbing in our own back”.
General Qayyum while concluding his media talk asked the government to take all political parties on board before taking any decision into the matter.
