KARACHI, June 4 (WNP): The nation is celebrating Eidul Fitr on Wednesday (June 5) as Shawwal 1440 Hijri moon has been sighted in the country.
This was announced by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman in Karachi on Tuesday.
The evidences of moon sighting were received from Quetta, Loralai district of Balochistan, Kashmore, Lahore, Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad, Zhob, Kamra, Attock, Taxila, Sui, Shikarpur and others areas.
Comprising religious scholars and Met office officials, the chairman announced the decision on the basis of evidences received from across the country.
Zonal Ruete Hilal Committees also held their meetings in major cities of the country to collect the evidence of moon sighting.
The evidences were then shared with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the final decision.
Muslims in Khyber Paktunkhwa province are celebrating Eidul Fitr this day after an independent Ruet-e-Hilal Committee headed by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai announced that it has collected evidence of moon sighting from difference parts of the region.
Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and several countries in Middle East are also celebrating Eid this day.
