Lady constable slap case: Name mistake causes release of advocate

FEROZEWALA, Sept 06 (WNP): Ahmed Mukhtar advocate who slapped a  lady constable Faiza Nawaz over a car parking issue on Thursday, Friday released by the court due to name mistake in the first information report (FIR).

Talking to media after the hearing, she accused her colleague for making mistake in the name of the accused knowingly in the FIR.

She accused sub-inspector for writing Ahmed Iftikhar instead of Ahmed Mukhtar – the real name of the accused.

She said she was not being heard by the court before releasing the accused that abused and slapped a woman constable in the broad daylight.

The lady constable asked the quarter concerned to provide her justice as she had been harassed and humiliated on duty.

“If she did not provide justice today, nobody would respect women especially working ones and they would be treated like me until their retirement.”

Background of the story

On Thursday, advocate Ahmed Mukhtar tried to park his car at an undesignated spot outside Ferozewala Courts, upon which, constable Faiza Nawaz requested him to park the vehicle somewhere else as parking there would cause inconvenience for other visitors.

Ahmed got enraged on this and started hurling abuses, later he slapped the constable across her face.

District police officer (DPO) Sheikhupura, Ghazi Salahuddin, promptly took notice of this incident and directed police to register a first information report (FIR) against Ahmed.

Acting on DPO’s orders, Ferozewala police arrested Mukhtar and locked him up in jail.

Police also pasted posters of the lawyer on important streets of the city in which he could be seen wearing handcuffs.

On Friday. the same constable he slapped presented him in the court by holding the chain of his handcuffs.
